H1The Saturday of Open Gardens was almost perfect garden visiting weather and we had over 700 vistors. The Sunday was the start of the really hot and humid weather and resulted in fewer visitors (about 450).
H1We had 27 gardens open over the two days. There was one garden especially designed for a wheelchair user while other gardens had some accessibility for disabled folk. Most gardens welcomed well behaved dogs on leads.
H1 Amongst the visitors were 24 members of the Hale and Woodgreen Horticultural Society who benefitted from a £2 ticket discount.
H1 The car park was kindly provided by Minterne Estate and accomodated both cars and a coach.
H1The plant stall was, as usual, well patronised. It is manned by village folk and supported by local nurseries providing excellent plants at very competitive prices. It contributed more than £1,000 to the effort.
H1 Home made teas and cake were serrved in the vicarage garden. They contributed £1,400 to the effort.
H1 More than £10,000 will be divided equally between The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulancs and contribute to the renovation of the village's Squibb Garden. See our list of past beneficiaries.
